What is the Xterm Termite Baiting System?

Xterm is an advanced, non-invasive termite colony elimination system developed by Sumitomo Chemical. Unlike traditional liquid treatments that rely on chemical barriers, Xterm utilizes a "Seek-and-Destroy" strategic approach to eliminate the entire termite colony from the source.

Core Mechanism: How It Works

Xterm works by exploiting the natural biological behavior of termites through a process known as Colony Elimination:

  1. Attraction: The system uses highly palatable cellulose-based bait blocks that are more attractive to termites than the wood in your home.

  2. Inhibition (Bistrifluron): The bait contains Bistrifluron, a potent Chitin Synthesis Inhibitor (CSI). It prevents termites from successfully molting (shedding their skin).

  3. Trophallaxis (The Transfer): Termites are social insects that share food. Worker termites consume the bait and carry it back to the nest, feeding the soldiers, the larvae, and most importantly, the Queen.

  4. Total Elimination: Because the termites cannot molt, they die off. Within 4 to 8 weeks (often as fast as 30 days), the entire colony—including the Queen—is completely eradicated.

Xterm Monitoring Cartridge (Blue)

  • Active Ingredients: None (Non-toxic / Pure Glucose & Cellulose).

  • Color Code: Blue (Monitoring & Interception Phase).

  • Target Species: Subterranean termites (Coptotermes spp.).

  • Placement: To be used within the Xterm AG Station during the initial detection phase or post-treatment monitoring.

Xterm RTU Paste

  • Physical State: Opaque White Paste (Solidifies after application).

  • Primary Attractant: Food-grade Glucose and Cellulose matrix.

  • Compatibility: Specifically formulated for use with Xterm AG and IG systems.

  • Safety: Non-toxic and environmentally responsible; focuses purely on termite behavioral attraction.

Xterm IG Station

  • Components: Durable cylindrical station, Dark Green lockable cap, 2x natural Peach Wood blocks.

  • Placement: Installed vertically in soil, typically every 3 meters around the building perimeter.

  • Material: High-impact, weather-resistant polymer for long-term underground durability.

  • Target: All subterranean termite species (Coptotermes, etc.).
